It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything Bangladesh related. I found this website awhile ago after speaking with the woman who is helping to get this organization going. Seemingly, they are doing really great work. One thing is for sure, these blankets are BEAUTIFUL. Christmas gift? Yes, please!

Vaudeville :: I went to see the BLUE MAN GROUP tonight. Kind of weird…while simultaneously kind of awesome. This quote from the International Diplomacy Guidebook was on the screen before the show:
“When meeting people from a foreign culture offer a few gifts that reflect your interests as a gesture of friendship. Better yet, give things you’ve created yourself. Also, explore their interests and their culture. Ultimately the best way to forge a lasting friendship is to create something together. Whether it’s a meal, an art project, or a spontaneous dance party when you create something with others you build a connection that lasts a lifetime.”
Career Counseling :: In college I once went to the career counselor for some advice and help writing my first little resume. I remember two things about this meeting:
1. The career counselor was overly ECSTATIC about her job. She had been an engineer, but had made a mid-life career transition and was LOVING her life for it—which I suppose is a very good thing in her line of work.
2. She asked me what kind of movies I liked. At the time, I thought it was a weird question and I remember sitting in her office unable to answer in a way that came close to matching the enthusiasm with which she asked the question. I think I probably told her The Lion King was my favorite movie 🙂 The point of her question was to see if she could derive from my movie taste and types of themes, characters, stories, etc. that I was drawn to some insight into my life’s passion. It didn’t really work, but now 10 years later I can answer her question. I like THESE kinds of movies! That, and I’m a pro at writing resumes.

Perfect Gift :: Tree-like green yoga mat. Thanks to the person who was so thoughtful to give me this special something this week. I shall treasure it.
“Matt nodded, ‘It be all purply. And shiny-like.’ Kira dropped it back gently inside her clothing. ‘My father made it as a gift for my mother.’ Matt wrinkled his face, thinking that over. ‘Gift?’ he asked.
Kira was startled that he didn’t understand. ‘When you care about someone and give them something special. Something that they treasure. That’s a gift’ ”

Kids Dancing by Helen Levitt :: Perhaps this one shall make it to the walls of my home as well…

Bubbles by Helen Levitt :: Someday this print will be in my living room.

Brunch Forever :: Brunch is one of my most favorite things. I hope as long as I live I have people over for brunch on some kind of regular basis. Food is hard to photograph or maybe I have yet to master the art of it. So, if you can’t tell, the food in this picture was both beautiful and delicious. My little house was filled with delight this morning as a fabulous group of people indulged in wonderful brunch.
