HO HEY :: This is my favorite song at the moment. I have the giant pile of free CD’s I got at work to thank for introducing me to this lovely tune. I’ve listened to it probably 50 times in the past few days. Can’t get enough of it.

Midnight Cami :: I read on a blog that all the hip cool women in New York City are walking around with navy blue painted nails… and I was INSPIRED. So inspired that I decided to give it a try. Perhaps one trip to Walgreens and a simple nail polish purchase could result in life changing coolness. You know when things don’t turn out quite the way you pictured in your head? Yes, this is the case with my navy blue nails. They aren’t quite the “trendy, hip, and perfectly cool” that I had envisioned (I think what I was going for was a blue more like Bobbing for Baubles), but I guess that’s the way it goes sometimes and I can hardly justify ANOTHER blue nail polish purchase. Nonetheless, I’ve been rocking blue nails this week.

Lime Green Success :: Our household is on a mission to make some updates to our common living space. This may seem a simple task, but when you take into consideration the tastes and preferences of four people that are quite different and the fact that furniture is particularly expensive, attempts at making purchases and agreeing on anything are more difficult than one could possibly anticipate. This week we had a giant success though. It came in the form of a lime green couch that we all like and that the purchaser LOVES (An important rule we established: Purchaser must love item, if possible everyone else must like or atleast not hate it). Never in my seven years of knowing her has said purchaser exclaimed love for an inanimate object, but moments after purchasing this couch she proclaimed her love. While I’m sure her eyes will roll when she sees I’ve posted about her couch love on this blog, if there’s one thing I’ve learned about my dear housemate it’s that she says what she really thinks and deeply feels in the moment – which means she REALLY loves the couch – and I am so glad! Stay tuned for the chair that I purchased and LOVE and perhaps someday our entire living room will be in a state where I can post about it as well.
GOAL :: I will receive zero parking tickets for the next 12 months. I have met my quota for the year or maybe even my lifetime.

“We are traveling the love lane. Down the road we will meet again.” – Raj in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi :: I heart Bollywood – all of it! The music, the dancing, the cinema, the clothes, the drama, the comedy, and the romance. People in India are in love with this movie, as am I. I was laughing and smiling throughout the entire 3 hours of it.

Grandparents :: I hope you like the steady theme of grandparents or more frequently grandma that run through my posts. I think this picture is perfect.

Basil Harvest :: It’s Saturday night and I’ve just brought my pink bucket that has housed my basil plant all summer indoors. Little plant, it is time to harvest you. It takes me an hour and one close encounter with a pincher bug to pluck all the basil leaves off my basil plant and several more hours of errands(picking up ingredients) plus a quick tutorial on how to operate the food processor before I am ready to pulverize my beloved basil into beautiful pesto.
And pulverize I did. Goodbye basil plant and hello gobs of delicious homemade pesto.
Make New Friends :: Were you in Girl Scouts? Do you know the Make New Friends song? It’s a classic really, and singing it in a round…well, nothing less than a timeless tradition!
Oddly, the little one in this video has somehow become and old friend (those are the gold variety). I first met her when she was just about to turn 2 years old and now she is a confident and capable 4th grader. I don’t know if there’s anything better than the year of 4th grade and being 9 years old.
In case you are new to the Make New Friends tradition and can’t quite make out the words of the song via the rendition I posted. Here are the words:
Make new friends
And keep the old
One is silver
And the other gold

Toilet Flowers :: Add this to the list of “a few of my favorite things.”
